04/10/1987 - Iron Maiden
Buffalo Memorial Auditorium
Notes: My first Rock N Roll show! I was so pumped. It was Lynn Englund, Kaposto, Dorsh, Jafo, Karl Von Schweiger, Billy Loukes that all went. One of the few things I'll never forget is Jafo's car overheating on the way there and after the show we all went to McDonalds and Lynn Englund let me the money to buy a salad. I also will never forget that Bruce was running to one side of the stage and Steve turned around and just missed clocking Bruce right in the forehead with the neck of his bass.

04/18/1992 - Tribe
The Scrapyard
Notes: This band blew me away!! I bought the CD Abort after the show and was hooked ever since. Sadly, they broke up in the mid 90's.

Set list(s):
The only reason I walked into the long gone Scrapyard in Buffalo, NY on Saturday April 18, 1992 was because it's owner, Dror Khon (sp?) owed me money for a recent gig. After suffering through some lame-o local punk act the relatively unknown Tribe mounted the stage.

There I stood, front row dead center, for the show, my gaze almost entirely transfixed on Miss Janet LaValley. I purchased Abort the very next day and listened to it for a week straight. I joined the fan club, have an autographed 8 X 10 (in a scrapbook somewhere) as well as "my lucky" Tribe T-shirt, which I was wearing when I took an ID photo for my Citibank Visa credit card and have never allowed them to change since even though I am 12 years older and now have short hair.

I remember eagerly awaiting the release of Sleeper and initially was sorely disappointed and though time has given it some appeal, it's no Abort.

I prayed that Tribe would return to Buffalo...they never did. Then I received the fan club letter annoucing their final show in Boston. I toyed with the idea of driving up for it, but I was way too broke and my car was way too beat-up. This is one of three shows I regret missing, the other two being the Monsters Of Rock festival (VH, Scorps, Doken, Mettalicrap & Kingdom Come) which I stayed home for so I could study for my calculus exam and INXS in Toronto in September of 1997 which I missed because of car problems I experienced while driving to the 09/21/1997 Bruce Dickinson solo show and I was afraid to tax the poor thing for fear of not making it to my CBGB's showcase a week later so I follow a Russian death metal band on a Monday night in front of 10 people. Needless to say, Michael Hutchence died that December and now I have to seem them with that hack on vocals...but I digress.

Back to Tribe:
1) Thank God that someone (bless your heart Steve) had the wherewithal to put a long overdue site for the band.

2) Does anyone know the Abort tour setlist? The couple of memories I had were one of just the guys coming back on stage for the encore, Eric stating something to the effect of "We're gonna leave the women folk at home for this next song." and them rocking out a song by a Boston band before being joined by Terri and Janet for the final number and of Janet LaValley singing into a megaphone. Actually, my good friend, the Knife, now an engineer/producer in Las Vegas, was the sound man for the Scrapyard at the time and remembers fondly assisting Miss LaValley with bullhorn/mic technique during soundcheck.

3) Are there any bootlegs of the Abort tour? I will gladly clean/remaster them for the 5 of us in the world that care.

We go worried that we'd get kicked out because the show was filled. So we snuck back out. But good fortune prevailed. Brother John got a scalper tix for less then show cost and the kid behind the ticket counter hooked me up with a front row seat. Brother John came down and sat with me. Killer show, I just hate Tori live, she fucks the tunes up too much.

He bought 4 front row tickets at about $175 each in LA. He bought one for me, all I had to do was to fly out to LA. What a great time, John paid for everthing and treated me like gold. His brother Al and his best friend Vinny was there also. We drove all over LA. We even went to the Nicole Brown Simpson crime scene (watta bunch of cheezers). Borden wasn't there, I don't know if he quit or what, but in his place was this cheezoid double kick Warrent outtake jizz metal drummer, with a full drum cage (burp). What a cheeze crack drum solo. I live for Chris Hicks, I ain't gay but he is one cool dude. He plays a mean guitar and sings like a mother fucker, when the shot whore came by, I bought a shot for Chris, later in the night, he did his guitar solo for Ghost Riders with it, TOO SICK, I lost it, that dude is too nuts. What kills me is that his eyes bulge out of his skull when he plays, I loose it every time.

Bought the cd Speed Of Sound and got the band's autographs. A mega bunch of swell guys. Watched Colin drink a beer through his nose on stage...too sick!! Lead singer Lips made a ton of kooky faces on stage, must have gone to Front Man School with the lead singer frpm the Killer Dwarfs. Lips has the EXACT guitar sound, flying V guitar and lead playing style as Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap, it's uncanny. Taught my hag how to play air hockey and whipped Sick Jimi's ass as well. 07/31/1999 - The Misfits, Earth Crisis, The Gathering
The Flying Machine
Notes: This is is what's weird about, and I have to be honest. I went to see The Gathering, not knowing they were opening for the Misfits. My hag & I were at the club around 1 pm. The Misfits showed up first around 4, they are the niceset bunch of guys I've ever met. They immediately started unloading their weight equipment and began lifting and drinking power shakes. Jerry was mega swell, signing autographs for all the kids and giving interviews. The Gathering pulled in about 5:30, great kids. I wish them the best. Their set rocked. Notes: Missed Black Widow's set, but got the info from Lana. This has got to be the worst show I've ever seen. I was so pumped to see them and Quiet Queer really let me down. They hammered through the hits at a million miles an hour playing them as if they would rather be golfing, zipping in and out of boring nowhere jams. The hamormies blew. Will somebody please tell Frankie Banali that he is a great drummer, just please stop over playing? The guy pretty much ruined WASP-The Crimson Idol with his over playing.

12/23/1999 - Shy Boy (w/Billy Sheenan - Talas)
Rock & Roll Heaven
Notes: What a fucked up night. Feedback has always been telling me how great Talas was and how I have to see them. He hears about this secret reunion, calls me up, sez he bought the ticket and I'm going...tough shit. Well, I've always wanted to see them so I said what the hell. Here's where it gets interesting. The bar has paid their bills, so there is no heat or electricity in the place. The whole club is run by generators. Shy Boy's set was lame and gay. After an hour or more wait...Talas finally hits the stage. The rocked. Three songs in the power goes out. Ten minutes later the fix the generators, it goes back on. Power goes out in three more songs. I say fuck this we're leaving. Stupid Feedback didn't want to go. I said screw this...I'll call my hag to come pick me up. I go outside 6 cop cars show up to escort everyone out of the building. What a gay night...I was so pissed at Feedback...

06/14/2000 - U.D.O.
The Fun House
Notes: Went with Sex Martin, Rocky & my hag. This show has to be the sleeper hit of 2000 for me. I was totally floored by it's intensity and power. Udo and boyz came out with a bang and never let us rest for one second. It was a non-stop barrage of songs. Winterdreams was wonderful and Balls To The Wall made me insane!!! The group of us that were in the front (about 25 or so) were all alike. Between 27-33 and knew our metal goods. While a bunch of dorks were busy hitting on my hag, I rocked it out with Chunkhead Jeff and Brother Mike. Udo looked great and sounded great. Got a chance to meet for autographs after the show....nuts. If you ever bump into Sex Martin or me, ask us about our hotdog dinner @ the Bacteria Square before the show.

Show review from NSS 06/00 Newz Letter: Second, I went to see U.D.O. (see the review in the concerts section of my web site) at the Funhouse last Wednesday (06/14/00). U.D.O. is Udo Dirkschneider's (former lead singer of the German metal band Accept) solo project. At 48 years old, Udo hammered through those old Accept tunes with such a vengeance, I felt my head was going to crack in half and my brains would bleed out my ears. There was about 25-30 of us old ugly heavy metallers (all between 27-33) in the front row, banging our heads and pounding our fists in the air. When Stefan Kaufmann (former Accept drummer now U.D.O. guitarist) began strumming the chords to Accepts biggest hit "Balls To The Wall", the whole gang of us went completely bloody mental. It was beautiful...I was 16 again...until I got home and me back began to hurt...then I felt my age.

08/01/2000 - Iron Maiden
The Air Canada Centre
Notes: Ok, call this Canadian ingenuity, but I just don't get it. The show as billed as the Sears Theater inside the Air Canada Centre. It thought, "Holy Shit! There's a theater inside that aud?" Nope, half of the Air Canada Centre was covered off and was renamed the Sears Theater.
Had great seats, up close and to the far left.
Entombed impressed me, even though I'm not really into that growl metal.
Rob Halford caved my fucking head it. He played a sheer set of molten metal, not missing one scream or a beat. Perfect set of great solo stuff and rare Priest.
Maiden sounded great, played great (except from Wrathchild, timing guys...timing) and looked great. Except:

a) the set list sucked mega dick (can't you guys just forget the Blaze Bayley years? I did!!!) How about Revelations, Still Life or Back In The Village? Do we really need the Trooper. And enough of the new album or at least play the good songs like Out Of The Silent Planet rather than Blood Brothers!

b) Bruce saida bunch of cocky stupid shit on stage. Telling off other bands and claiming that Brave New World is best Maiden album ever, better than Number Of The Beast & Piece Of Mind. (I'm sorry sir, but that answer is incorrect, the punishment is death)

c) Somebody give Janick Gers his walking papers. Get of the stage you fucking Robert Plant poser cheeze crack guitar player and take your wammy bar with you.

Funny story: during Hallowed Be Thy Name, Bruce was yelling at Rod Smallwood who was smoking off stage by all the pyrotechnics. Nuts!!!

Notes: First and foremost, special thanx to Boat, the driver and stage manager who got a couple cds back for King to sign. Dude, you made my day!!!

The Deep (Texas) were cool. Babylon Whores (from Finland) reminded me of a heavy Hanoi Rocks. Shadows Fall were very mega nuts...crowd was really into them.

What can I say? The King always takes care of his fans. Great set. Band was plauged with a small stage and numerous techincal problems so they didn't play as intense and tight as I remembered before...but they came and they played. Wasn't loud at all and the sound mega sucked!!! Ultra rare track Burn...never played before. Plus Dressed In White...heavy.

08/11/2000 - King Diamond
Water Street Music Hall
Notes: Had my buddy Derek Hendrickson (misterd1313@hotmail.com) make me one of his Elvis busts, this time with King Diamond face. I put in a box for King along with a Monkey Head Magazine (Issue 8) article that proved that the King was really Elvis (it's true).
Hung out with my buddy Dino thoughout the evening, sick dude has pic with the King (sans makeup) in 1987 backstage at the Rivera Theater (Abigail tour). Took to that Voodoo chick.
Mega thanx to Da Chef (sick dude!!) who got us close enough to the backstage area so I could get Ole Bang to give King the gift. Thought we saw King per
